The set contains all the coins issued in 1988 which includes the 'Royal Shield of Arms' design One Pound coin which was only issued the once and is what the new Shield coinage design is taken from. Also included is the old larger design 50p, the florin size 10p and shilling size 5p coin, plus the 20p, TwoPence and One Penny coins in bronze - seven coins in total. It was also quite a scarce coin when in circulation, and rarely did one appear in your pocket or purse with most being withdrawn from circulation due to wear, long before the 'round' pound ceased to be used.
