Description: 1998 New York Yankees World Series Black Bat Mint condition with original manufacturer's card and box World Series Champions. Mint condition. Comes with original manufacturer's card and box. Other sellers may claim that their black bats are in "Mint" condition but this one really is. It comes directly from a former executive from Hillerich and Bradsby and is in the same condition as the day it was manufactured. Beginning in 1934, Hillerich and Bradsby created a series of specially lacquered "black bats" to commemorate the World Series and Division champion from each baseball season. Each ebony bat bears the facsimile signatures of the players (usually in gold) as well as the team name and year. In 1991, due to the rising costs of production and the difficulty of producing high-quality bats in large quantities, Hillerich and Bradsby began to greatly scale back production.
