What is certainly unique about this sea chest is the old remnants of the original red paint and wear from use.Vertical blocks still retaining rope handles.Notice the canted chest shape. Roman numeral an old owners carved date on top edge dates to 1866 (Old dove tailed chest is possibly earlier)This is an exceptional example of a sailor necessity.
