Description: Up for bid is an antique 19th C French yellow faience pottery plate with a transfer decoration of the “AFFAIRE DE MATARO”. The piece is 8 3/4 inches in diameter by 1 1/8 inches tall at the rim. It has a bright yellow glaze with black transfer decoration on the front. The center has a view of the “AFFAIRE DE MATARO /1823” Condition on the plate is fairly good. There are a few places where tiny stray bits of clay have fallen off, as well as normal wear and discoloration from use. A fine old plate.
