Description: Offered for sale is a circa 19th century dresser box, jewel casket by Wave Crest, CF Monroe, Meridian, Connecticut with the signature swirl design. Helmschmid swirl was designed and patented by the CF Monroe Company. It is white opal glass with a soft luster/ matte finish with hand painted ferns, florals painted on top and sides with gilt metal mounts. The box measures 7" diameter and 4 " tall. This box was produced from 1890-1900. Concerning signatures, Monroe himself stated that his glass speaks for itself and therefore does not need signatures on every piece.The box has remnants of the original lining which we did not remove. The glass box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, etc. Please look at the photos. This is a beautiful, antique piece of history!
