Description: This sweet little silk child's vest from the late 19th century is designed with matching front and back panels with a black shiny border and blue floral scalloped banding that outlines the peach-colored orange centers. The centers are beautifully embroidered with colorful lotus flower rondels, cherry blossoms, and whimsical bats. The vest is secured with two loop fasteners and tiny copper gilded ball buttons on the right shoulder. Two loop fasteners with one button missing are on the right side. The vest is entirely lined on the inside with blue patterned silk. It's apparent that great care and pride was taken in the making of this tiny garment. The center embroidery is in good shape however the black borders are becoming frayed with some thread loss. The wear is appropriate with the age and use of the garment.
