Description: 19th Antique Victorian Hand Carved Coral Maiden Face Earring Accents 19th Century Coral 14 Karat Yellow Gold Dangle Earrings Victorian Coral Rose & Maiden Face Earrings Etruscan Revival Measures 2.5 in (6.35 CM ) Museum worthy and attributed to Tiffany & Co. very finely carved antique carved coral and gold earrings composed of a multitude of climbing roses, each with four fully blooming roses and two rose buds amidst ten leaves on well shaped 14K yellow gold stems. These are of the finest quality imaginable, each leaf is hand carved to show veins and delicate side ridges, each rose showing intricate petals with partially opened center petals. The earrings are in two parts and may be converted to day/night earrings if desired. Red roses symbolize true love and were associated with Aphrodite in ancient Greece. A very similar, but smaller pair of earrings (and brooch) are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2000.564.1-.2a,b Tiffany & Co. circa 1854-1870- please see photo for comparison. Unmarked, tested for 14K gold Exceptional condition with all carvings in remarkable state, some old residue visible at the top of each earring.
