Description: Fine 19th century, c1890s, original watercolor painting. Depicts an eye catching rural country village landscape complete with small stream, dam, mill, old stone church and two figures walking along side the stream. Very well done with clean lines and impressive detail. Nice use of color and capture of light and depth. Signed by the artist G. Villiers in the bottom right corner; quite worthy of further research. In Good overall condition. Relatively clean and crisp with the exception of a line of soiling to the right edge and some gentle scattered spotting. No holes, rips or tears to the painting. Well preserved. Mat backing shows heavy wear and staining fro an old adhesive but can be hidden quite easily with a new mat. Measures 22 3/4” x 12” and 24 3/4” x approx. 15 1/2” with the mat.
