Carter, 1880.” Dennis Malone Carter (1827-1881) was a 19th century genre and figure artist who was active in England and New York. This authentic Oil Painting depicts an early Royal Court. A young peasant woman is standing in front of the King who is speaking to her while holding his scepter. ... Under a strong blacklight you can see several small, professionally in-painted restorations, plus the canvas has been properly re-lined with patterned linen. There is also an old, stable craquelure surface to the paint, primarily between the woman and the king. A past owner placed this authentic, 1880 Dennis Malone Carter Oil Painting into a contemporary 22 ¼” by 32 ¼” gilded frame, which only has some tiny edge and corner. Please view the pictures carefully as they are part of the description. Sold as is. The Last 2 images were added on April 13, 2021 showing newly damaged corners following unexpected accident. Because of this unfortunate incident I am dropping price by $3000,00. I would say probably it was too heavy and collapsed from the wall, but since two separate paintings have collapsed on same day without any earthquake, not sure how to explain this anomaly. The 2nd painting survived without any damage because of the soft landing. …… Please, check out our other eBay Auctions for a nice selection of Antiques, Art & Collectibles.
