Description: FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE... Found in an estate liquidation on Madeira Island Portugal. Antique cast iron gate or double door lock that is in still functional condition, dating from the late 1800s. The flaw is that the brass knob that would allow access from the exterior is missing. There are two functional interior keys that work the double sliding latch. Also the surface mounted side brackets. It has survived in good previously used condition, found in a barn workroom coated with some light surface rust. You would be able to lock from the inside, however, someone in the know would have to adapt a brass knob to allow access from the outside. Overall, it measures 5 1/2 inches top to bottom, 5 1/2 inches side to side. It basically would surface mount except for a small hole in the gate or doors to accommodate the key shaft. I have inserted one photo with a standard size playing card as a reference for size. MUCH OBLIGED
