About the Author (from sf encyclopedia): Working name of Welsh-born physician, biomedical engineer and author Edward Llewellyn-Thomas (1917-1984), in Canada from 1951; he held professorships variously in pharmacology, medicine, electrical engineering and psychology, publishing at least sixty papers in his linked specialities from the mid 1950s on. (if interested, you can find a much longer biography on wikipedia.) From the Back Cover: When the by-product of the greatest contraceptive ever discovered turned out to be sterility for the next generation, the result was predictable. Within a century the population of the "civilized" world dropped to a tiny remnant of narrow-minded survivors. Their few communities were ruled by hard-shelled fanatics whose prime need was women who could still bear children. Anne had been such a trade-off "wife" and when she slew her captor and fled, there was only one who would help her. This was the young man whose hidden stock of medicines made him a necessity to the isolated homesteads. The surprising and exciting adventures of Anne and David as they fled their barbarous pursuers and headed for a legendary sanctuary far across the ocean is a realistic and imaginative projection of a world that yet may be. Condition: Binding - very good, slight spine lean, slight edgewear, slight rubbing and soiling, one spine reading crease, front cover hinge crease by the spine, corners slightly bumped, insides of the covers browning, pages slightly tanned. Dust jacket - none, as issued. Our Business Policies: Use the Contact Seller link near the top of this listing to see our FAQs, which should answer most questions about our business and listing policies. We have moved the extensive text we used to have here to those FAQs. Shipping and Packing: General Information: We always ship in sturdy new boxes with premium heavy duty packing tape, bubblewrap and filler to keep the item(s) away from the sides of the box. The pictures below show the boxes that we use for shipping. A Note On Customs: When customs forms are required for a shipment, we fill them out honestly, stating that the contents are merchandise and giving the price you paid for the item (not including the shipping) as the value. Please do not ask us to do otherwise. Take any customs duty that you will have to pay into consideration before making your purchase. Please note that many countries have restrictions on the import of certain goods and sometimes on the maximum value that can be shipped to the country by various shipping methods. Priority Mail International insurance cannot be purchased for all countries and some limit the amount of insurance that can be purchased (default indemnity coverage seems to apply to all countries). Details on shipping conditions by country can be found on the United States Post Office web site.
