Description: 2 Antique Patriotic Postcards. Decoration Day & Washington BD. E. Clapsaddle This is a very nice group of 2 PATRIOTIC antique postcards from the very early 1900s. They were published for DECORATION DAY (Memorial Day) and PRESIDENT'S DAY for the remembrance of GEORGE WASHINGTON'S birthday. They show lovely USA patriotic symbols. The Decoration Day shows a decree, the USA flag, and an Army badge. The other shows an axe tied to a cherry limb, and representing Washington's "cutting down the cherry tree". The designs have bright colors, and they have RED, WHITE, and BLUE drawn in the postcards. These are in good condition. The postcards are nicely EMBOSSED. They were published by International Art Publishing Co., a well respected and sought after publisher. These postcards are ARTIST SIGNED by Ellen Clapsaddle, a well known artist whose material is sought after by collectors. These type of patriotic postcards are sought after by collectors. They have nice colors and good themes. These are collector items because of their age, being Artist Signed by Clapsaddle, being nicely embossed, and their overall appeal to those collecting Decoration Day, Washington and Patriotic antique postcards. The postcards are POSTED with a cancel dates of 1911-12. They have DIVIDED backs, and these were "Printed in Germany". These are BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcards will keep their value! They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains, paper toning, and edge wear due to their age (over 100 years old!).
