The key is the control number on the side of the strut. There is a 6-digit control number stamped on the shock (usually begins with 7 - this number is different than the Part Number) which you can use to confirm that this is an authentic Gabriel shock and corresponds with the Gabriel part number - just enter the part number in the search box on the Gabriel website.
