Description: 20 Red Torch Flowering Cactus Succulent Seeds "Desert's Blooming Jewel" Rare Trichocereus huascha is a Rare genus of Cacti in the Cactaceae family, with some of the most spectactular fIowers. It is native to parts of South America Species vary in form and size – from small globose types to large columnar types. They all produce very large flower blooms, of varying colors, with long floral tubes. Flowers are very short lasting, some are nocturnal. They are fairly easy to grow and are extremely well adapted to drought and able to store water within their structure to ensure survival through dry periods. They are often grown in greenhouses, particularly in regions unsuited to their cultivation outdoors. They can be grown in the ground or in suitable containers which means that they are suitable as houseplants, being tolerant of the often dry atmosphere. Trichocereus huascha is from Bolivia is a basally branching columnar cactus type. It produces varying flowers colors from golden yellow to dark-red.The red torch cactus resembles our native hedge-hog cactus. The red torch grows one to three feet high and it branches spread up to three feet. It is a heat-loving cactus. Flowers, two to four inches across bloom in the spring. The flowers are nocturnally blooming and exist for only about 18 hours, similar to saguaro flowers. The best cultivars will bloom massively every 10 days to two weeks over a span of three months.Red Torch Germination: *When preparing, do so with a pair of tweezers in a well lit area as these seeds are Extremely Tiny.*1) Use cactus substrate with 20% siliceous coarse sand or a mixture of 25% black peat, 25% blond peat, 25% heather soil and 25% siliceous coarse sand cleaned by a bleach solution to kill any plant pathogens.2) Clean a 4-inch plastic pot with the 10 percent bleach solution. Fill it to within 1/4 inch from the pot rim with the soil . Tap the pot gently to settle the mix so there is about 1/2 inch between the top of the soil and the rim of the pot; the soil should be level.3) Keep the soil between 60- 78 degrees F will give a high germination rate, and above 86 F germination will be reduced Extremely. It's optimal to keep at 78 degrees during the day dropping to 50 degrees at night. Alternating temperatures is very important for germination rates as it mimics their natural conditions in nature.4) Using a red light will help to stimulate germination as they need light in order to germinate.5) Make sure the soil is wet before planting. Scatter seeds as evenly as possible over the surface of the soil in the pot. Cover the soil with a very thin single layer, loosely spread, of fine sand to give support to seedlings as they grow. Surface sowing is Very Important as they need light in order to germinate. 6) Cover the pot with clear plastic wrap or a 5-inch square sheet of acrylic plastic to keep humidity levels high at first.7) Check every few days to see if seed is germinating. Lift the plastic wrap to mist the top of the potting mix occasionally. Do not let the soil dry out. When most of the seeds germinate, fold the plastic wrap back to reveal one-quarter of the pot opening. Mist the seedlings daily. Patience is required as germination is erratic. They will take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, with some taking longer to germinate. Once germinated, most baby cacti are very vulnerable to fungus, so allow the soil to dry out a bit. Do not overwater and keep out of strong sunlight until they mature."Please Contact us First if you need Anything"Please Check out our Other Items!Buy with Confidence as Customer Service is our #1 Priority and are available 7 days a week.
