The BTB505 features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of DFR-5 active pickups feeding a Vari-mid 3-band HiFi preamp, individually mounted Mono-rail II bridges with 19mm string spacing, a locking Neutrik stereo output jack, a plastic nut, and Gotoh tuning machines. For 2000 the neck was changed to a five piece maple and bubinga construction and the hardware was changed to cosmo white.
