Description: This book was purchased from the estate of William Christensberry in Washington DC. On this photographer from Wikipedia: "William Andrew Christenberry Jr. (November 5, 1936 โ November 28, 2016) was an American photographer, painter, sculptor, and teacher who drew inspiration from his childhood in Hale County, Alabama. Christenberry focused extensively on architecture, abandoned structures, nature, and extensively studied the psychology and effects of place and memory. He is best known for his haunting compositions of landscapes, signs, and abandoned buildings in his home state. Christenberry is also considered a pioneer of colored photography as an art form; he was especially encouraged in the medium by the likes of Walker Evans and William Eggleston." THIS BOOK WAS INSCRIBED TO WILLIAM CHRISTENBERRY BY FREDDY LANGER, WHO PROVIDED ONE OF THREE ESSAYS IN THIS FINE BOOK WHICH TAKES A UNIQUE LOOK AT THE WORK OF WALKER EVANS. On the book: Titled, Walker Evans New Translations and Vintage Prints. With essays by Freddy Langer, Jerry L. Thompson, and John T. Hill. Published in 2004 by Galerie Thomas Zander. In NEAR FINE CONDITION, clean B&W thick covers with very light corner and edge wear, very solidly bound, no further interior marks, unpaginated with glossy pages of BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS and the essays as noted. Looks to be about 40 pages. Freddy Langer is best known for this series of photographs of famous people wearing sleeping masks. Here is a brief bio found online: "Freddy Langer, born in 1957 in Frankfurt, has been head of the travel magazine of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung since 2002 and writes travel reports and books about hiking and mountains. Photography played a major role from the beginning. He has been portraying artists and celebrities wearing the sleeping mask for almost 40 years. He often travels on foot through the snowy landscapes of the world, looking for the last white spots on the map." B135
