Description: 1947 Bond Bread Baseball 22 Card Lot! "1982 FESTBERG FIND" Up for sale is a 22 card lot of one of the most confusing issues in the hobby. It's a long convoluted story, but I shall do my best to relay the research I have come across succinctly. I purchased these 20+ years ago believing they are 1947 Bond Bread cards. However, recently I found out card grading companies no longer accept these cards, because no one (not even the graders) can discern the original Bond Bread cards from a later large "find" discovered in an abandoned NJ factory by a guy named Festberg in 1982. I believe he found over 100,000 boxed cards. After Mr. Festberg passed away his widow started selling off the "find". The "find" cards included half of the 48 cards originally produced in 1947. The list I came across in my research for the "find" included the 22 I purchased. I think there are 24 "find" cards, but I could be mistaken. The "find" cards aren't counterfeit, or even reproductions. They just, for whatever reason, were sitting in that factory. To make matters more confusing the 1947 Bond Bread cards had beveled or rounded corners and white backs. The "find" cards have square corners and have a cream/off white back. So many believe they're not 1947 Bond Bread cards at all. They are from some other set from like 1948 or '49. My eyes started to roll in the back of my head at this point. Clear as mud, right?! I highlighted the star cards in the yellow background photos, but there are 22 cards total. The reason I'm writing this diatribe is I don't want anyone to be taken advantage of (like I was) thinking these are 1947 Bond Bread issued cards that came out of 1947 loaves of Bond Bread. They could be, but most likely, in my opinion, part of that 1982 "Festberg Find"... which is kinda cool unto itself. If YOU have any info to add or educate me on PLEASE reach out to me via message.
