Description: A lot with 24 generally well frosted pieces of rare OPAQUE MINT GREEN beach combed sea glass, mostly from the Pacific Northwest; these are all fairly smooth and rounded, but all have the small dark spots, twisted shapes and flows that mean they have been in a bonfire/trash fire at some point. Nicer than most, for this type of glass. This is a fairly rare kind of seaglass, in that it was originally made with uranium salts as a colorant, which causes the glass to fluoresce yellow or white under a UV lamp (see photo). This glass was used primarily in glass serveware made between the 1920s and 1950s and because the glass was heat tempered, it is somewhat prone to chipping and having rather angular shapes. Please note: The picture I took in UV light was done with a professional UV lamp designed to detect repairs in antique documents. Having a "UV filter" on your phone might not show it nearly as intensely! Condition, etc.: Pieces are in fairly well frosted condition; expect dark inclusions, as well as minor edge/corner faults. Range of mostly smaller sizes measure from just about 5/16" (7mm) long to just around 1" (25mm) long. Presentable pieces in a seldom offered type of sea glass; a couple of people I have previously sold this to use it for jewelry designed for clubbing and raves! Please check all the photos! I try to give an impression of both SIZE (glass is pictured with a US Dime for scale reference) and QUALITY (large, clear close-up images) so you can clearly see what you are buying. Obvious flaws/problems will be mentioned and photographed, when possible. Thank you for looking at my eBay listings with sea glass and other beach treasures! Please take a moment to look at my other items; discounted shipping is offered when you buy and pay for multiple lots at the same time, and I usually have MANY lots with sea glass listed (click the "Shipping & payments" tab for full details). FREE SHIPPING for total purchases over $75.00! Note the relatively low shipping costs-- most lots ship via USPS first class mail to save expenses. $8.50 to ship and "handle" a single little piece of glass by Priority Mail strikes me as a bit extravagant. Priority Mail is used for bulkier and heavier items, or for multiple-item purchases with 5 or more items. Yes, overseas shipping has become quite expenses, but blame the USPS, not me! If you like what you see in my shop, may I suggest signing up for the "Store Newsletter" (link above left) to receive periodic information about new items. I will NOT bombard you with constant messages-- at MOST you will hear from me about once a month. Note: I sell only genuine beach combed sea glass and pottery! All glass and pottery I offer for sale on eBay was collected either by me and my wife, in person and is "natural," as found on various local and regional beaches, as well as a few items from further afield. When location of origin is known, it will be in the listing. I do not tumble, treat, oil or otherwise "improve" the glass I sell-- what you see is what you get. I have been a beach comber and sea glass collector for about 45 years-- since I was a small child.
