277/500 RARE Chilmark "The High Tide" Civil War FJ Barnum Pewter Sculpture READ

Description: This is an incredibly rare Chilmark pewter sculpture, numbered 277 out of 500 by FJ Barnum. Sadly, IT IS IN NEED OF A REPAIR. We acquired this piece already damaged, although the right person could hopefully repair it quite easily with pewter solder. The damage is very simple, a clean break just above the hilt of Lewis Armistead's famous sword impaling a hat. The sword is there, just needs to be affixed. This incredible piece deserves to be restored to its original glory and I hope it finds the right home capable of doing so. There is also some light markings on the base, especially on one corner, although they are not deep and could be easily cleaned up with a stain marker. The piece itself is entitled The High Tide. This references (from wikipedia): "On July 3, 1863, as part of Pickett's Charge during the Battle of Gettysburg, Armistead led his brigade to the farthest point reached by Confederate forces during the charge, a point now referred to as the high-water mark of the Confederacy. However, he and his men were overwhelmed, and he was wounded and captured by Union troops. He died in a field hospital two days later." This incredible piece rarely comes up for sale, it saddens me that something so rare is damaged. We are very careful in shipping Chilmark, and will package it in such a way that it reaches you in the exact condition you see here. It also features one of my favorite Barnum rabbits, I took a picture of it hiding behind the stone wall. See photos for condition - the base has some imperfections I've already noted as well as the broken sword. This measures in at about 9.5" x 6.5" and is about 5.5" -6"tall. It weighs 4lb 6oz.
