The variable speed slider switch works only with Beam Alliance units. It functions as on/off switch for other models. The manufacturer recommends use of this hose with Beam, Electrolux and Honeywell central vacuum units with a single motor that were made after 2008. This hose is a direct replacement for 050814 and 050815 Sumo electric hoses that are no longer available. The 2G electric hose handle has an square end that is only compatible with powerheads that use a wand with comparable shape.
