Description: I am the original designer and a starting partner of Ameritron before the sale to MFJ in 1990. This is an engineered board. The original board prior to MFJ used 600 volt foil, 450 volt continuous working, and 525V test capacitors. Over the years the parts degraded and some unfortunately are not adequate. These amplifiers were never upgraded from the original Ameritron/Prime 1983 designs. Please note some pictures showing mounting are from early units. These boards are direct fit to the Ameritron AL12 series amplifiers. This includes the AL82, AL1200, and AL1500. We also have a 470uF and AL80A / Heathkit SB1000 version available. This is a good general replacement for other amplifiers that have the room. We have a larger 10,000 volt board and a smaller 3600 volt board that fits the SB220 and other amplifiers. 1.) This board uses ten long-life low ESR 330uF at 450Vdc capacitor. The total capacitance is 33uF. 2.) This board uses a variety of bleeder/equalizers depending on parts availability, but is always 50k and more than adequate voltage and dissipation rated resistors. All parts are engineered and selected for long life and reliable performance. 3.) This board is a direct fit, ever screw location matches. 4.) This board has improved protection. It has a spot for a ten ohm surge resistor if you favor adding one. 5.) This board meets or exceeds the good engineering practice of at least 0.1 inch spacing per 1000 volts gradient across the board surface. This means the board will not carbon track over time or in high humidity locations. This board is also available in a discounted bundle that includes a better "no hum" step-start board, better rectifier board, and this filter capacitor board.
