Made with ground fish and shrimp meats, ground mealworms and earthworms, ground animal meats, ground water hyacinth and other greens, powdered bone meal (no we do not use chicken by product scraps either). We have been using this exact pellets mix for over 7 years for our baby and adult turtles and have been selling it to zoos and breeders for 6 years. This is not some low protein koi fish food that has been repackage as turtle food like most others seen on ebay. This is made for carnivore turtles (almost all true aquatic turtles are carnivores) and has been fed by zoos and breeders. Itss a high protein mix 48%- 51% range, hence the almost black color. all aquatic turtle food should be over 40% protein at the minimum, anything under 40% is most likely just basic koi fish food pellets repackaged as turtle food, the tell tale sign is the blacker the pellet the higher the protein level You won't find any fillers like soybean meal, wheat flour or corn meal in our pellets that's for sure. Have you ever seen a turtle in a corn field having a little corn? IF YOU SEE ANY TYPE OF CORN IN THE INGREDIENTS ON TURTLE FOOD THEN ITS JUST KOI FOOD REPACKAGED AND ITS LOW GRADE. Ever seen a turtle in a soybean field eating soybeans? How about flour and wheat, have you ever seen a turtle eating a loaf of bread, lol? No! That is because in the wild they do not eat these things. They eat what is in the water or at the water's edge. If it doesn't come to the water or live in the water they don't eat it. Turtles are mainly carnivores by nature. Unlike most turtle food, which is made and then sits on a shelf or warehouse for a year or two before its sold and used, this batch was freshly made this past march. Normally I do not sell this pellet mix in small quantities. Usually it gets sold in 85lb buckets, but one of my long time normal buyers is closing up shop and I have over 300lbs of extra turtle food that I need to move.
