The ball was made in two pieces. It feels dense and not hollow, but it is nowhere near heavy enough to be solid steel. I suspect is is filled with some other dense material. A wood ball or some kind of fibrous material. Whatever it is inside, it does not move. Actual weight is 2 lbs 4.5 oz.
