If it's early spring or the weather is still chilly, it's best to wait for warmer conditions before planting them in the ground.• Lemon grass thrives in porous, moist soil but shouldn't be overwatered. For young plants, it's okay to water them daily. As they mature, watering them 2-3 times a week is ideal, depending on your location. In hotter climates like Arizona, they may require watering every 2nd day in summer, whereas in cooler areas, once a week may suffice for mature plants.• When planting, space the stalks apart by 1-3 feet, depending on your preferred aesthetic. Each stalk can produce multiple stalks as it takes root and grows, resulting in a bushy and beautiful mature lemongrass plant.• During transportation, some roots may fall off, which can be delicate when the stalks arrive. In case some roots are lost, the stalks can still be planted as long as enough roots remain. If needed, you can place the stalk in a glass of room temperature water (1-1.5 inches) for 5-7 days until new roots start to grow, then proceed to plant as usual.
