These barrels are of very high quality and have VERY thick hoops to ensure a tight seal. The rings are made from thicker galvanized steel and look amazing! Custom age your own products in the privacy of your home. It has a MEDIUM Char and is ready to use. Thick staves and thick hoops will ensure a good end result. They are really, really nice barrels. They are tight and will most likely take no extra preparation. You will need to properly prep the barrel prior to its use. Wood is a natural substance and can dry, expand, crack or have small gaps/holes where liquid might leak out if the normal tightening/swelling process does not resolve it. Barrel Wax is used to make the area in question into a water-tight (alcohol too) area and it is readily available on ebay and every online marketplace.
