We scale a 400 foot 90 degree incline to access the mine, and although the copper is at times only surface, I have made cabochons and carvings with our flat lap with this material, and the hematite mixed with manganese quartz Chrysocolla Cuprite and malachite can make even a plain looking piece from outside really pop out and become spectacular. I did take these pictures after wetting down the rocks to show colors in the ore. Tumbles well and takes a very nice polish. This copper gold ore also contains microscopic amounts of gold around .03 ounces to the ton. Discovered while prospecting when I found a bush of trumpet shrubs known to grow around mineralization. There was only a faint deviation in color of the surface rock that was reddish and somewhat unusual. I had a rock hammer handy and was able to dig up the boulder and underneath was a sea of green Chrysocolla Totally hidden from the sand on outside and no apparent float rock was anywhere in the viscinity. A lucky find and we have been working it periodically for 5 or 6 years. Due to very tricky accessibility we tend to sell out and can only bring so much back at a time.
