5th Infantry Division White Back Patch Cut Edge Vintage Normandy Europe

Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 5th Infantry Division patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a very nice white backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The 5th was a regular Army division and was moved to Iceland in March of 1942. It landed in Normandy on July 5, 1944. The division saw action near St. Lo in Normandy. It was assigned to Third Army after Normandy and raced across France with them. They captured the Fortress city of Metz in the eastern part of France. The division pushed east until the Battle of the Bulge brought it to a halt. Patton picked the 5th to be one of the divisions to attack the southern flank of the Bulge. After the Bulge the 5th continued to push East. On March 22, 1945, the division made a famous assault crossing on the Rhine River. After crossing the Rhine the division helped clear out the Ruhr Pocket. The division reached Czechoslovakia before the war ended. Please read my auction requirements.
