What makes these cards really special are the silver crescent moons. For those who collect the Man in the Moon, these will catch your eyes. Such series look great framed together. Published by printer Paul Finkenrath from Berlin, established in 1875, a printer of quality chromolithographic cards and exceptional design. ANTIQUE POSTCARD DISCLAIMER: I try to photograph my antique postcard listings as accurately as possible to reflect color and condition. That said, I have found this is very difficult to achieve. Lighting and camera angle are arbitrary. As I do not have a ‘professional’ set up, I have found it is difficult to photograph the card dead on which often makes the card seem out of square…which is almost always not the case. Accuracy as to color and definition is also difficult to capture. Today’s photography often imposes a ‘brilliance’ to the image that is not reflected in person. Silver ink is in pretty good condition - especially when compared to other antique postcards with metallic ink. Overall, light soiling. Some cards have lightly tipped corners. Some cards, due to the high relief, have some color rubbed off, especially in the men’s suits and hair. (For purposes of specific condition comments, I am numbering the six cards starting with card #1 in upper left…to card #6 in lower right.) Card #3 has a slight “crease” to the right of the pink roses, on the right side of the moon. It also appears to have some soiling just above the man’s hand. Card #4 has some light abrading in the upper right edge. Card #5 has a slight dog ear crease in the upper left corner. Card #6 looks to have abrasion above the heads of the couple and it appears to have been touched up.
