Description: Penn Antique Restoration Penn Antique Restoration 64"x83" Pair of Vintage Arched Double Doors Gorgeous pair of vintage, Arched, double doors salvaged from an old home in Upstate, NY. Both doors are made of either Douglas fir or pine and are painted on both sides. Today, "pine" is known as a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Hardware: Door#2 comes equipped with only its top flushbolt. The bottom flushbolt is missing. If you'd like to replace/add hardware to the either door, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay store). * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Condition: The doors are strong, sturdy, and in great condition. They only have nicks and scratches, but no broken or cracked joints, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. The worst damage is on Door#2, which has a small break on the strike-plate mortise (see 2nd to last photo). Most of the blemishes that they have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks". Modification: We could also modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with panels etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
