Description: use this kit with your 68rfe stock*** input drum retainer and the included Transgo high performance pressure plate RFE-PP-ODHP ( *** stock input retainers are normally 1.960" from top of inner drum to top of .061" flat snap ring with all 3 pressure plate removed & .061" snap installed) eliminate your Six (6) wimpy factory/stock one-sided internal tang frictions (.050") and the Six (6) wimpy factory/stock one-sided external tang frictions ( .050") and install high energy two-sided friction clutches with thick heat-dissipating steel plates between each two-sided Friction. --- The kit comes with two (2) slightly thinner kolene steels like used in the Sonnax Smart Teck drum (72960-16k) and two (2) slightly thicker steels for power transfer and heat absorption as well as five (5) two-sided high energy friction clutches. We use this setup in Odessa Texas and beyond on oil field trucks/welders with good results; the shift is firm This set up will leave you with an approximate overdrive clutch clearance of .060" -- which is within range of the recommended .040 - .063" ---------------------- In Summary, you will use 5 double-sided friction plates and 2 kolene steels and 2 thicker steels for a total of 9 plates and you will use the included Transgo O.D. pressure plate. We will be sending you one (1) additional friction, one additional kolene steel plate, and one additional "thicker" steel plate for just that one case where you need to get creative if clearance is causing you a fit.
