Description: This listing is for the Regenerative Receiver, QRP 80/40/30 meter CW Transmitter that you see in the photos. It comes a high impedance piezo headset and one QRP crystal for the 3 bands of operation. I can also make these for 160/80/40 meter operation in lieu of 80/40/30 as listed (please inquire). I have one of these on another listing that is similar, but requires a high voltage supply to operate the transmitter. This one has a built-in dc inverter type power supply for the high voltage. So you'll only need a single 12 to 14 vdc battery or well filtered bench supply to run this radio (not included). I typically use a small rechargeable motorcycle/golf cart battery like the one in the photo (not included). I make these to order, so please allow 8 to 10 days for shipment once your order has been placed. Chassis colors are green, black, gray, blue and red. Please let me know if you have a preference. Otherwise I will ship the gray hammered finish, as pictured, which is always my preference for finish. For this RX/TX QRP radio I have used a pair of the 6AQ5 Pentode tubes. There's a single NPN transistor audio amp in circuit for increased headphone volume, which is powered from the 12 volt source. Needless to say, once you have the transmitter powered on the high voltage can run over 200 vdc, no load, on exposed components inside the chassis. This can be lethal, so please handle responsibly! like the transmitter, the regen receiver also uses the color-ring inductors in lieu of plug-in coils. A toggle switch allows receive coverage from 500 khz to 1865 khz at the low end of the 160 meter ham band, and from about 3.05 to 11.7 mhz shortwave. You only need one antenna for both send and receive. The transmitter power output is about 1 watt more or less, depending on the band of operation. Power out will usually drop a bit on 40 meters and you'll probably get no more than about 600mw RF out on 30 meters. I like to use wire antennas of about 65 to 70 in length for this radio. The Pi-network with its PA and antenna tuning controls seems to work well with this antenna length. Of course, a good earth ground is essential for both transmit and receive. I'm able to copy lots of stations in the early evening and early morning hours, including stations on the amateur radio bands. The fine tuning control will allow you to clarify ssb and cw signals. A hand sketched wiring diagram will be provided, along with instructions on where to hook the antenna, power and headphones. About 80 to 90% of the parts are new. Since a few of the parts are from good used stock I am listing the radio as used, even though most of the parts are either new or nos. Controls are main and fine tuning, antenna coupling, on/off switch and regen pot setting, along with a send/receive switch and front panel controls for tuning the transmitter. You will, of course, need a valid ham radio license if you intend to transmit with this radio. I guarantee this radio will work if you hook it up properly with appropriate power supplies and a good antenna. SHIPPING TO THE UNITED STATES ONLY.
