This patch has never been worn and would have been worn on the shoulder of the flight suits worn by the members of the 940th Air Refueling Wing (Oct 1, 1994 – July 1, 2009) before it was redesignated as the 940th Wing out of Beale Air Force Base, California. This is a genuine shoulder patch from the 940th Air Refueling Wing Unit. It is an original item and was manufactured in the United States. The Emblem - 940 Military Airlift Group: Gules, a helmet closed couped or garnished sable above a demi-eagle issuant from sinister argent fimbriated of the third, all within a diminished bordure silver. The emblem is symbolic of the Group. The colors of the emblem denote: white purity; red patriotism, gold association with the Wing. The bird is representative of flight and the warrior aggressiveness, valor and honor of our Armed Forces when threatened by an enemy. The patch is perfect for collectors of militaria and those interested in the history of aviation. The patch features the unit crest and is a great addition to any collection.
