Dorr was an Air Force veteran and former diplomat for the U.S. State Department who went on to become an award-winning military aviation historian and novelist. During the 25 years before he passed away in 2016, he wrote more than 70 books. In the ‘60s and ‘70s, Bob Dorr launched his career as an author by writing gritty stories about American servicemen in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and ripping exotic action/adventure yarns for many of the top men’s pulp adventure magazines of the era — magazines like Bluebook for Men, Climax, For Men Only, Man’s Magazine, Men, Real and Stag.
