Andrew Joseph Russell (1830-1902) spent the 1868-1869 season as the official photographer with the Union Pacific Railroad as the route moved west from Nebraska toward Promontory Point in Utah. This image was published as plate 24 in his 1869 volume titled, "The Great West Illustrated in a Series of Photographic Views Across the Continent; Taken Along the Line of the Union Pacific Railroad, West from Omaha, Nebraska."* CONDITION: Overall Very Good++ with nice tonality. Small mount loss at the top two corners and 1/4 inch crease/break at the lower left corner. The very bottom edge of the mount displays some barely noticeable remnants where a protective tissue cover was once attached. * SIZE: Measures approximately 9 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches overall with mount. Albumen photo measures 4 13/16 x 6 11/16 inches.
