Description: A. R. Cole decorative bowl under a cool light looks more black and under a warm light appears more midnight navy. It is mirrored with a gloss glaze over the redware clay (as seen on the bottom). Pictures were incredibly difficult to show how lovely this piece looks. If you are a pottery collector, love the N.C. history, this A. R. Cole pottery is the perfect piece for you. A. R. Cole started a company called Rainbow Pottery and in 1940 bought out his partner and renamed it A.R. Cole Pottery. From 1940 to 1975 A. R. Cole Pottery had numerous potters such as Jack Kizer, Elvin Owens, Charlie Teague as well as his 7 children. In 1975 after A. R. Cole’s death, his daughters Neolia and Celia renamed the company Cole Pottery. While the pottery is not dated the best estimate is a mid century piece given the stamp that was used from 1940-1975. ***Please review all photos and allow the camera to focus.
