Description: I am the author of this book. It was my first book published with a traditional publisher. A limited amount of copies were printed. This is among the few copies that remain in new condition signed by myself. Synopsis: America's Dairyland is in distress. Its rural farmlands are dwindling. Join Troy Hess, a rural explorer, and award-winning photographer, as he travels the backroads of Wisconsin in search of these "rural ruins." Abandoned Wisconsin exemplifies the slow demise of America's Dairyland, a place where architectural decay runs rampant like a noxious contagion. Speckled with black mold, these poisonous structural shells remain as toxic concoctions of lead paint and asbestos shingles. Captured through the seasons, these neglected and forgotten structures fall victim to time and the elements, left behind and barely standing. Some have fallen, some are vandalized, and most have been razed. All have seen better days. In a time lost and long forgotten, some of these places can still be found adorning the Wisconsin countryside. Readers will journey down roads less traveled as they explore these hidden treasures, captured and documented within these pages to immortalize their existence before they are gone forever. About the Author: TROY HESS is a multi-award-winning photographer and editor, based in Rusk County of northwestern Wisconsin. His photos often depict colorful and dramatic imagery. His passion for abandonment photography began with a search for a provocative subject matter to photograph. Residing in one of the poorest counties in the state, he was reluctant to find an obvious choice, as the abandonment in his area was plentiful. Over the past several years, Troy has captured and documented almost all abandonment located in the state of Wisconsin. He has also ventured beyond the state lines to document some of the neglect found within other Midwestern states.
