Description: Kaba Jirray Wadil - Ngujay and Wurarr-Wurarr"Last Big Rain Before the Dry Season Starts - Fresh Water Turtle and Dragonflies Come Out To Play"This painting depicts the change from the Wet to the Dry seasons in the tropics. The background orange/red depicts the runoff of ochres from the country that occurs when heavy rains come towards the end of the Wet season. When Ngujay (Fresh water turtle) comes out and starts to warm himself on the rocks and Wurarr-Wurarr (dragonflies) start to play above the water surface - these are both sure signs to Bama (Aboriginal people) that the Dry season weather is not too far away.Brian Swindley -Binna as he is known, is the Aboriginal artist in residence for Janbal Gallery in Mossman, Queensland, Australia and is a local Kuku Yalanji man from the Mossman region of Australia.
