Description: GFA-5006 The GFA-5006 is really several amplifiers in one. With the flexibility to be configured to drive from as many as six channels to a combination of five, four, or three channels, the GFA-5006 is ideal for use as a multi-zone amplifier that can provide quality amplification for a whole house, distributed sound system. With individual level controls for precise control of each amp's volume, it's the ideal foundation for an authentic, ultra-realistic surround sound theater system, or for a multi-room or multi-speaker audio system. Custom installers love the flexibility and thoughtful features we've designed into the unit for custom sound applications. These features include 3 to 30 volt AC or DC triggering, signal sensing for each channel, a ground lift switch, pass through RCA input/output jacks for easy daisy chaining and heavy duty five-way binding posts for solid speaker connections. The GFA-5006 also has a rear mounted "vacation switch," sophisticated electronic and thermal protection circuits and internal fuses to eliminate worries about shorted speaker wires, unintentional misconnections, or other potential problems. Controls on the GFA-5006's rear panel let you select multi-channel operation, or bridge the channels for a 3-channel configuration. In the 3-channel mode, the GFA-5006 brings your home theater to life, delivering 175 watts of clean, distortion-free sound to the center channel and each of the rear channels. Add it to your existing 2-channel amplifier and you'll be at the center of a superbly balanced, awesomely powered system with sound so real you can practically touch it. For audio applications, the GFA-5006 in the 4-channel mode acts as two amps, one at 175 watts-per-channel x 2 and a second at 50 watts-per-channel x 2 to drive two sets of speakers. A great way to have sound in two separate rooms or areas of the home. 6@ 50wpc, 5 @ 175x1 & 50x3, 4 @2 @ 175w & 2 @ 50w, and 3 x 175w. 6 channels, five, four, or three, home theater for home audio, the award-winning ADCOM GFA-5006 gives you many times the versatility of ordinary amplifiers. And much more of the value that has made ADCOM famous. ADCOM GFA-5006 Power Amplifier - Technical Specifications Power Rating: 50 watts continuous average power into 8 ohms at any frequency between 20Hz and 20kHz with all six channels driven at less than 0.018% THD. 75 watts continuous average power into 4 ohms at any frequency between 20Hz and 20kHz with all six channels driven at less than 0.09% THD. Caps replace with OEM pull from non working unit ( has bad auto sense on off sensor board). 2nd unit had few power supply caps replaced. Few minor nicks or abrasions on case actual pix. Rear panel dent fixed although was only cosmetic. Powers on and off with auto sensor switch. Vacation off and on override too. Tested working great, the slow delay is cause by soft power up not a big deal as some reviews stated incorrectly. This is designed for amp and speaker protection. If 4 ohms speakers are driven hard amp may blow main fuse as it will reach its thermal limits and supposed to blow main fuse to protect it! These have some bad reviews although the reviews were not very savy on a 6 channel amp and created their own distorted sound from the following, bad audio capacitors, bridging loads over 8 ohms( although 6 ohms speakers sounds great a low and medium levels the distortion increases with 4ohm loads and is not recommended. Or use of cheap speakers not able to handle 75 to 175 watts. I give these two amps a 9.5 for use quality and low distortion if used properly. So search for poor reviews and read with open mind that some or all of those reviews were done by amateur enthusiasts. Adcoms GFA5006 is worth 500-600 for its power and caricature. Adcom has a reputation for quality and performance so expect middle range to lower levels and you be amazed and delighted with this addition to your system. Most users go with 3 channel and a Adcom GFA555ii @ 200wpc for main the GFA5006 bridged 175x3 for center and rears. I am ran my GFA5006 in this configuration. Note: make sure your speakers are 8 ohm Especially bridged) and can handle over 100-200watts unless using 4ohm x6 then output will be a clean 75wpc x6 or 3 @175 @ .09% distortion into bridged or 4 ohm loads is pretty remarkable and sound is awesome for price. 38# shipped weight.
