Description: Antique Advertising Stoneware Monmouth-Western Rolling Pin Rust Band "BUY AT CAPPEL'S AND SAVE DOUGH" Advertising stoneware rare triple rust banded rolling pin made by Western Stoneware Company located in Monmouth, Illinois for Cappel's store. 3 Line Advertisement Reads: BUY AT CAPPEL'S AND SAVE "DOUGH" Condition: One edge has the common stilt marks which appear like small chips or scuffs most of the time but are actually natural from the making. On that same edge there is also one chip and a few small dings not caused by the stilt (pics #11-12) . Below the advertisement there is small pop and a superficial pottery stress line about 2" long (very thin line, appears almost like a scratch - pic #6). There is crazing and scratches throughout the pin from age/use. Edges show some dirt scuffing from the handles rubbing against the stoneware. Other than the mentioned and shown flaws, there are no other chips, cracks, or repairs. Wooden handles have a nice aged patina and function properly handles are screwed tightly and we have not removed them to inspect further. If there are any other flaws/imperfections on the stoneware such as glaze/paint skips and glaze pops etc. they are natural from the making. Comes as seen and as made.
