Description: This is a beautiful antique figure of an African American Cowboy. He may be practicing for a rodeo or just breaking in a new working horse. The piece itself is in extremely fine condition. The label on the back reads (as much as I can see), "Roco Wood." The label is quite worn, but under Roco Wood, I can see that the piece is, "MFG US." I believe this piece has to be from the 1950's, perhaps even earlier. The thermometer is missing, but the bracketing for the thermometer is there. Take note of the extreme detail with this piece. The horse looks as though he is just a bit angry. Perhaps he is being ridden for the first time. Note the barn in the background. The detail of the cowboy's clothing and his leg chaps are very detailed. In the 4th and 12th photos you can the distinct African-American facial features (sorry about the flash back in that photo). It's a lovely piece. I have taken many photos inside and outside so that you can take note of the many details. I think is is quite nice that the maker of this piece had the good sense to include the African American cowboy in their manufacturing. They were of vital contribution to the making of the West, and all of the progress that followed thereafter. To hold this piece gives a sense of history, both in it's artistic composition, and in it's age. It would be priceless if it could speak of the many hands who have owned it and of its travels throughout the decades. It will surely bring satisfaction in the decades to come. Economy shipping will be USPS., or FedEx., depending upon the destination address. I will package this antique piece with great care. At this time I am shipping everywhere within the lower 48 states.
