About Saks Jandel boutique: The boutique has a 128-year history of clothing first ladies and the region’s fashion conscious. The store, located today at 5510 Wisconsin Ave., is the exclusive home to many high-end designers, including Saint Laurent and J. Mendal Saks Jandel was founded in 1888 as a fur purveyor. Ernest Marks, Peter’s father, pushed the business into high-end fashion designers when he took over in the late 1950s. “This was his passion,” Peter Marx told the Post of his father. The boutique had a satellite location at the Watergate for 20 years. It closed in 2007.
