His universe of imagination and original work in the Latin American tradition of surrealism and fantasy. He has participated in many exhibitions, individually and collectively, since 1968, in the United States, Mexico, Europe, and South America. Some of his works of art form part of important private collections as well as museum collections. He works on ambitious sculptural projects in various countries, as an example. He has done One well-known series of eight sculptures of his, La Rotonda del Mar, which is a collection of bronze chairs that were created for Puerto Vallarta's boardwalk (Malecon). And some huge sculptures at the Nassau County Museum in Long Island, New York. Colunga studied architecture for three years before dedicating himself to painting in 1971. He refers Rufino Tamayo as one artist who has influenced his work. Alejandro Colunga studied architecture but was largely self-taught in the pursuit of his surrealistic and fantastical art. The images in his works are frequently based on folk stories he heard as a child; recurring figures include La Llorona (the Weeping Woman) and Chamuco (the Devil). Colunga, who also spent time working in the circus, paints circus and carnival imagery, magicians, clowns, and vendors. His paintings frequently feature fantastical stories with bizarre elements and bold colors. Though Colunga mostly paints in a figurative style, he habitually exaggerates the human form for narrative effect. Colunga has also experimented with works in ceramic, sculpture, and bronze We offer beautiful Art Pieces for a wise art connoisseur to be proud of a great addition in a Close-Out Auction.
