Description: ALFREDO CAMPOLI / BRUCH ALBUM SET: Concerto No.1 Op.26 (Violin)- 3 Shellacs EX+ ALFREDO CAMPOLI / BRUCH ALBUM SET: Concerto No.1 Op.26 (Violin)- 3 Shellacs EX+ Description Offered is The Original Debut Album of Violinist Alfredo Campoli : CONCERTO NO. 1 IN G MINOR for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 26 (Bruch), featuring Alfredo Campoli (Violin) and conducted by Walter Goehr. In The Age Of Shellac, Record Albums (more than one record issued in a book-like cover), were largely the domain of larger musical compositions – Classical and some Opera. Jazz, Blues, Rock and other musical forms were waiting to be invented. With each side producing 5-6 minutes of playtime – many sides were necessary for the popular compositions. By the 1930’s, record manufacturers began experimenting with Album Sets that featured individual musicians whose talents were recognized as exceptional. Such is the case with Alfredo Campoli. Finding original Analog Recordings by Alfredo Campoli is a challenging task, as there are so few that were made. Following is some information provided by the The Violinist site: "Alfredo Campoli, Greatest British Violinist Having been born with such a natural talent Alfredo Campoli might have been expected to build his life around that talent. He did not; he enjoyed many activities and simply played when asked. It was an unusual talent in the sense that he might be grouped with the likes of Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti, not only because his tone was absolutely unique but also because he based his approach to performance on ‘bel canto’. Just a few notes and his wonderful sound is instantly recognisable. Had he been born at a later time he might well have become an icon of the instrument. Unfortunately, the recordings of his performances that remain, although providing some insight into his tone and style, do not do justice to the enormous sound he drew from the instrument and the ability to derive the absolute perfection of tone invested in the instrument by the maker." THE SHELLAC - EX+ : These beautiful records are in superb investment-grade condition, and have been lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear. All six sides of this three record set retain all of their original gloss. The only marks on the shellac surfaces are very few cosmetic hairlines from which I heard no audible effects. The records have been well-cared for with no scuffs, cracks or chips. Bright, undamaged, Blue and Silver Columbia labels (please see photos). THE COVER - EX+ : Exceptionally well-stored / the only visible flaws are some age-related color-fading confined to the outer-facing spine, and some cosmetic cover marks (please see photos). The spine is fully intact with no rips or tears. The colors are bright / minimal edgewear / no ringwear / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact / all of the manila sleeves are firmly affixed to the spine with no tearing or rips / no writing, paper loss, stains or dirt. We have placed all three records separate protective plastic inner sleeves. Shellac records are fragile and can be easily mishandled by the transit providers, so we take extra care in packing with strong materials and extra insulation for their journey to you. We have included photos of all side six sides. Please use the magnification feature on the labels for the tracklist and other musician information. Information on Columbia Masterworks Set M - 332 is difficult to find as a result of its limited production run, however the labels put the likely recording / release date date somewhere in the late 1930's or in the 1940's.
