Description: These are COPIES of TWO 1980 scripts from ARCHIE BUNKER’S PLACE, the continuation of ALL IN THE FAMILY. The episodes are titled “Archie Alone” Parts I and II. The original scripts were owned by Al Melvin, who played Archie’s best friend Barney Hefner. (He made notes in the first script but he wasn’t in the second.) These are first generation copies of set-used scripts that are 40+ years old (not transcripts or Photoshop recreations). In the episodes, Archie (Carroll O’Connor) and his niece Stephanie (Danielle Brisebois) grieve and attempt to move on following the loss of Archie’s beloved wife, Edith (Jean Stapleton). These very moving and memorable episodes are the highest-rated of the series on IMDB. They include moving tour de force performances by O’Connor. You can see a clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz3lfQlf-wY Behind-the-scenes, Stapleton only appeared in a handful of Archie Bunker’s Place’s first season and was ready to move on from the role of Edith. It would have been difficult to explain her character’s absence so, it was decided to have the character die off-screen. Archie would grieve and then start dating again, opening up new story possibilities. These are copies of first draft scripts and differ from the episodes you see on screen. Watching the episodes while reading along in the scripts gives some insights about how these memorable episodes developed. The scripts covers have been reproduced in color and sheets of acetate are included to keep them looking pristine (to be honest, the copies looks better than the originals). The scripts' pages are printed on one side. Great care has been taken to make these pieces that a TV collector will be proud to own and display.
