Description: Up for grabs is a pair of Altec Lansing A7s refurbished with care. This is the 4th pair we have brought back to life. Our father worked for Altec in Anaheim in the 70s. We have a history. Inside: 511B horns with 802-8D drivers, N501-8A crossovers, and 515-8G woofers. Both woofers are high power 515-8G models but one is Altec Lansing and the other is made by Great Plains Audio....the successor to Altec Lansing. The 515-8G is a 16 inch speaker not the 15 inch size like the 416-8A. The cabinets: Stripped and sanded at a minimum to maintain integrity, painted two coats of synthetic oil cabinet paint, edges routered to give the cabinets a modern look. New Grill cloth added, new wires inside, There are no casters on the cabinets, they are shown on furniture dollies. All fiberglass sound insulation and staples were removed. That stuff is Itchy and you don't want to touch that if you have to get inside. New denim sound insulation was cut and installed and stapled into the cabinet walls. This was also applied to the 511B horns to reduce the ringing which is very common. It helps. Altec Lansing emblem added to fronts. Other notes: The horns were put inside the cabinet as on top they look ugly...mom says. Ha. The woofer should be on the bottom to provide better low end performance off of your floor. Woofers sound better on the floor. Sound amazing and can handle more power now. Speakers weigh 160 pounds each with the improved drivers. Local pick up please.
