Description: These Alvin sterling silver pastry tongs are 5" long and weigh 49 grams. The top arm has an engraved oval wreath, in which there is a cursive vertical triple monogram, and engraved work decorates the handle, down to the rectangular tongs, which are pierced. The top tong has two small catches or teeth to help grab and hold whatever pasty being served. This Alvin design is similar to many patterns the company produced from 1908 to 1910, including Antique No 8, Evangeline No 7, Roanoke, and William Penn No 7. Some one there must of been enamoured of wreaths and swags in the Adams style in this period. Marked on the bottom tong Alvin and sterling.
