This results in a rock-tight fit, without the use of a screw. Preferred by many collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, One-Piece style grips can be removed by removing the three backstrap screws, and pulling the grip and strap backwards. Reinstallation is in reverse order. Note: if using One-Piece style grips on gripframes currently set up for Two-Piece grips (i.e., frames where there is a grip pin installed in the frame), the grip pin must first be pressed or tapped out of the frame prior to installation to enable later removal of the grips.Alternatively, our Two-Piece style grips offer the superior convenience of quick grip removal (i.e., the backstrap need not be removed to remove the grips). Our Two-Piece grips will also work on either style of gripframe. In addition to the screw and pre-installed hardware, our Two-Piece grips come with our exclusive free Conversion Kit to enable their use on a One-Piece style grip frame without any modification to your revolver. American Western Arms (AWA) first began importing parts for their 1873 revolver around the year 1998, with finishing and assembly being performed in the United States. The Longhorn was the basic model, while the Peacekeeper featured a higher quality of fit and finish. After being successfully sued by Colt for Trademark (“Trade Dress”) infringement, AWA made the requested changes and began marketing their 1873 as the “Classic” and “Ultimate”.AWA issued their revolvers with both one-piece and two-piece grip configurations. As stated above, no matter which frame type you have, both our One-Piece and Two-Piece style grips will work with either frame type. If your revolver has a grip pin installed, it may be necessary to remove it and use our conversion kit if purchasing a set of Two-Piece style grips. Grip blanks are then milled from this premium material, incorporating both CNC techniques for blanking and being finished and polished with the same process used in manufacturing the originals. They are then carefully aged with our exclusive aging process, incorporating concentrated UV light (the essential aging property in natural sunlight), in a hermetically sealed environment. Although this process is a much slower process than artificial coloring methods, the result speaks for itself. Our process produces an authentic appearance and genuine patina which extends into the surface, just like real ivory or stag. Not only does this give it the appearance of authenticity and depth, but this surface will not chip, crack, or peel like a superficially applied coating. Accept no substitutes. With Magna-Tusk aged grips, most experts cannot tell them apart from a decades-old or even a centuries-old original.
