The handmade English Pewter pendant depicts the 'Dragon of Eternity' surrounding and sustaining the 'Crystal of Life' (a faceted, multi-colored Swarovski crystal). The pendant measures approximately 2 1/8" wide at the wings, almost 2" long, and comes on a 21" nickel-free pewter chain. Symbolism: Thought to combine the fertilizing waters of the serpent with the 'breath of life' of the bird, dragons were originally positive, life-giving, creative symbols. Dragons still represent the powerful, creative, elemental forces of the earth as well as the Cosmos itself. Handcrafted English Pewter: This pendant is handmade in England using the highest quality English Pewter. English Pewter is a lead-free, zinc-free alloy which is valued second only to silver. English Pewter is much harder to craft than the low-grade zinc and lead alloys (which contain a significant amount of toxic impurities) that are still being used in some jewelry manufacture today. Because these pendants are handcrafted and hand-finished, each one is unique; and there are slight variations between individual pieces.
