Description: RARE FIGURAL VIOLIN PLAYER CORK BOTTLE STOPPER #2. ITALY. The Anri company manufactured figural stoppers from 1912-1976. The original carvings were caricatures of the actual villagers who carved them. Individually hand carved and painted so no 2 look exactly alike. There were single heads and 3 other styles. Kissing couples, hat tippers and drinkers (wine or beer). After the 1950's they started using plastic heads that looked more like puppets and filament line for the moving parts instead of a cotton string. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This one is an early production. Excellent condition. Looks really cool. He has a mustache and clean face. Clean cork. Functioning. When string is pulled arm moves and metal wire moves over fiddle as he bows his head. Functions but arm does not return well. It may need minor adjustments. Measures approximately 5-1/4 inches tall. Please look carefully at all the photos. This is the actual item you will receive.
