Description: It is an authentic engraved antique map approximately 158 years old, blank on reverse, with original handcoloring and a centerfold as issued. It is by Felix Ansart, from his Atlas Historique et Geographique Ancien Et Moderne, published in Paris, circa 1865, although the map shows much earlier pre-1847 international borders including the outline of the Republic of Texas in its early heart shape. It is not all that uncommon to find in some later editions the reuse of older maps, especially world and continent maps. Overall a very well preserved map with nice strong color and an antique appearance that would frame up very well. Size: The image/text area measures approximately 10 x 15 1/2 inches (26x39cm) on an 11 1/2 by 17 inch page (29x43cm) with a margin all around, as seen in the main pic. Condition: It is in Very Good condition for its age with overall light tonal ageing on a buff color paper with original handcoloring and a centerfold as issued. There are a few very light smudges and browning, nothing distracting, otherwise a very clean map with strong color and a antique appearance that many desire, see the pics for more on condition.
